Turning off the taps in Bardala, Jordan valley

Until 15 years ago the people of Bardala used to collect water from the river. Since then a pumping station has been installed, paid for by the Palestinians but controlled by the Israelis. Palestinians are allowed to use the water from the pump 3 days a week for 3 hours a day. Meanwhile the settlers have unrestricted access to water from their own pumps. On the top of Bardala village there is a large water storage tank that used to be used for the whole village. Since Israel restricted their water use, the tank has fallen into disuse for lack of water. The Israelis are continually building more pumping stations. They are building another one a few hundred meters away. (more…)

Campaign launched to free Al Masra’ villagers.

A complaint is being made against Israeli police after the lives of three British women were threatened by armed Israeli settlers.

One of the settlers was identified by Israeli police at the scene as a security guard for the illegal settlement of Talmon B. No action has been taken against this man. The three members of the Brighton-Tubas Friendship and Solidarity Group were subsequently arrested, held for 33 hours in an Israeli gaol and released without charge. (more…)

This summer, the Popular Committee of Fasayil, together with the Palestinian Save the Jordan Valley Initiative of the Anti-Apartheid Wall Campaign and the Brighton-Tubas Friendship and Solidarity Group, started to build the first and only primary school in Fasayil, a village in the heart of the Jordan Valley. The grassroots project is part of a solidarity project between community groups in Brighton and Tubas region in Palestine.

PRESS RELEASE - BUILDING SOLIDARITY IN THE FACE OF VIOLENCE - BRIGHTON DELEGATION RETURN FROM PALESTINE

All of the ten people who have just returned from a delegation to Palestine from the Brighton-Tubas Solidarity Group, have their own unique stories to tell. In their two week visit they’ve been shot at, arrested, and discovered that produce grown on stolen Palestinian land and using child labour, is being sold in British supermarkets including Tesco’s.  One delegate said, “Although it was often shocking, these events are part of daily life in Palestine and the people we met were full of friendship despite their situation.”   (more…)

Nine more Palestinians in Al Mazra’ah ‘arrested’ on Thursday 1st November

Ma’an news agency posted the following report on 1/11/07:

“Israeli forces detain 9 Palestinians, including 3 minors Israeli forces detained nine Palestinian citizens including three minors on Thursday morning in the central West Bank village of Al-Mazra’ah Al-Qibliyya west of Ramallah.

Local residents told Ma’an Israeli forces carried out another campaign in the village last Sunday and apprehended 13 people. They said those arrested took part in the demonstration last Friday protesting against the separation wall.”

13 Palestinians arrested in Al-Mazra’a Al-Qibliya - ISM PRESS RELEASE

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE October 27th 2007Last night between 1am and 3am the Israeli army raided the West bank towns of Abu Shukheidim and Al-Mazra’a Al-Qibliya arresting 13 Palestinians on allegations of criminal damage and being at an illegal demonstration, they are now in Binyamin police station. In what is clearly collective punishment, the arrested include the head of the Al-Marra’a Al-Qibliya council, a village council member and three minors. The raids follow a demonstration on Friday against the illegal annexation of agricultural lands by settlers.
